Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
I'm torn between the large and small sizes—what do you recommend?
In our opinion, the choice of size should be based on just one factor: how much space you have! If you’re not worried about running out of space, go for the large size—it’s the most comfortable. If you’re worried that the large size will take up too much space, go for the small size—it’s also very comfortable, and you won’t regret it!
Are beanbags durable enough to withstand dogs and cats?
Good news: dogs and cats don’t seem to like scratching the hot-air-balloon fabric. However, watch out for cats marking their territory—the smell can be hard to get rid of! If that happens, remove the cushion from its cover and air it out outside.
What do I need to keep in mind to make sure it lasts for many years?
- Avoid washing the cover in the washing machine too often (only if your beanbag is very dirty); instead, use soapy water and a sponge.
- Do not walk or jump on your beanbag (Placing a lot of weight on a small area of the beanbag causes the polystyrene to compress)
- Avoid leaving them in direct sunlight or moonlight when they are not in use. UV rays cause fading and weaken the fabric, even on outdoor models, though to a lesser extent.
If you follow these tips, your beanbag will last a very long time!
How do I schedule an appointment and arrange for delivery to my home?
GLS will contact you via text message and email the day before delivery to let you know your 3-hour delivery window. The GLS delivery person will always drop off your package at the entrance to your building, but don’t worry—our packages aren’t heavy. :)
What happens if I'm not home when the delivery arrives?
If you're not available, no problem—we've opted for the Flex Delivery service, which offers you the following options when you log in to their platform: have it delivered to a neighbor, have it delivered to any other address in the area, have it delivered within the next 4 days during a 3-hour time slot of your choice, or have it delivered to a pickup location of your choice.

Can these beanbags withstand even the most rowdy kids?
Our beanbags make wonderful gifts for even the most energetic teens! But we still recommend avoiding high-jump and free-fall contests to prevent the filling from flattening too quickly.

Will I be able to leave my beanbag outside all year round?
Unfortunately, none of our beanbags will last more than a season if they're left outside all year round...
Are bean bags UV-resistant?
For indoor use: they aren't very UV-resistant. If you leave them outside all season, they won't last more than one season. For outdoor use: their fabric is more UV-resistant, but to ensure they last for many years, it's best to keep them out of direct sunlight when not in use.
Is the hot-air balloon fabric waterproof?
For indoor beanbags: we use Ristop fabric, which is used by private pilots. After 8 years of flight and a machine wash here at our facility, the fabric’s weave has loosened, causing it to lose its waterproofing. But it’s also this phenomenon that makes the fabric so silky compared to new fabric! For outdoor beanbags: we use Hyperlast fabric, which is used by professional pilots. The weave of this technical fabric makes it tear-resistant and water-repellent, even after years of flight and multiple machine washes.
What are the best ways to clean my beanbag?
First step: Use soapy water (a sponge soaked in dish soap works great). You can use this on both the hot-air balloon fabric and the tarp. If your beanbag is very dirty: Take it to a dry cleaner or laundromat with a machine capable of handling loads over 15 kg at 40°C. Using a smaller machine may cause the tarp of your cover to wrinkle too much.

I'm torn between a pyramid-shaped one and a rectangular one—what do you recommend?
In our opinion, the choice of shape should be based on a single criterion: the desired back position and the availability of support surfaces. If you have support structures (e.g., walls, trees, or any surface against which you can lean a pouf) and you absolutely want the option of a position with good back support, we recommend rectangular models, which will give you more flexibility in arranging them.If you have no support (e.g., an isolated spot far from walls in a room) and you absolutely want the option of a position with good back support, we recommend the pyramid-shaped poufs, which will be more stable in this position.

Shipping and Returns
Do you ship outside of France?
Yes, we ship to neighboring countries: the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Delivery times for these destinations are 8 business days. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout.
Shipping packaging: What are its dimensions?
Large: a transparent bag made of recyclable polyethylene (really). It looks a lot like a sausage, 1.2 meters long and 70 centimeters in diameter. Smaller models and cartons: cardboard boxes measuring 100 x 50 x 50 cm
Shipping packaging: what should you do with it after delivery?
Cardboard or polyethylene bags—everything goes in the recycling bin! We’re currently working on reusable packaging, but it will be a few more months before it’s ready.

What can I do with this ottoman to recycle it after many years of loyal service?
All the materials in this beanbag are recyclable, so we’d love to tell you that your beanbag will get a third life through chemical recycling! But unfortunately, whether you take it to a recycling center or put it out with your bulky waste, it’s very unlikely that its materials will be recycled in France…
However, we can always reuse the polystyrene and certain other components from the covers and inner covers! Just let us know atbonjour@ltdln.comand we’ll send you a return slip so a delivery person can come pick up your beanbag from your home.
What should you do if the polystyrene settles over time?
With heavy use, the polystyrene bead filling may settle. In that case, you can refill the inner cover using our refill packs. Reusing the settled polystyrene along with the refill pack will not affect comfort in any way. After the first refill, our beanbags will no longer need to be refilled.

Will my beanbag lose its shape, and what can I do if that happens?
If the product is used frequently, the padding is likely to lose its shape over time. That is why we offer refills that allow you to replenish the padding without replacing it and without compromising comfort.
Is the fabric of a hot-air balloon really that comfortable?
If you've ever touched a kite (made of ripstop fabric), you might have thought it wasn't very soft. Well, with hot air balloons, it's different. After eight years of flight, the fabric's weave has loosened, the material has become supple, no longer makes a sound when crumpled, and is as soft as silk!
Is recycled expanded polystyrene as comfortable as new expanded polystyrene?
Many people tell us, "Even more so!" because since the beads aren't perfectly round, they better conform to the shape of the back and hold their shape better.
Do the colors look like they do in the photos?
- For models in the "Outdoor" and "Pool" collections made of Hyperlast, and "Indoor" models (except those in the "Les Colorés" collection): These are exactly the same fabrics used in the photos. These are limited-edition balloons featuring fabrics with exactly the same fabric codes. However, after 8 years of flight, the fabric’s color may vary slightly in brightness depending on its location on the balloon.
- For all indoor models in the "Les colorés" collection: We use fabrics that match the colors shown in the photos as closely as possible. For example: On a "Rojo" model, the photo shows three shades of red. In reality, there will always be three shades of red that are identical to or very similar to those in the photo, and they will be placed in the same location. Over 1,000 units of these models have been sold without any returns, but we prefer to let you know if you’re looking for a RAL color that matches perfectly.

Social Commitments
Social Commitments
Do you really make everything from scratch?
The final assembly of the covers is carried out in-house at our workshop on Île Saint-Denis by our two expert tailors, Lasso and Moussa. Depending on the time of year and any surges in orders, we also partner with local job-training programs such as Mode Estime or adapted workplaces such as the ESAT in Limeil-Brévannes.
You involve social reintegration projects: what does that mean?
Workfare programs are generally established by nonprofit organizations. Their purpose is to provide support and training to people who are physically or mentally vulnerable.
Sustainability

What are the main environmental impacts of beanbags? Have you conducted a life cycle assessment?
Given that all the materials we use (except for haberdashery) would otherwise have ended up either in landfills (causing plastic pollution and the destruction of farmland) or in incinerators (emitting CO2), we can say that they have a zero environmental impact. The environmental impacts of our products therefore stem from the following factors:
- Material collection: This is carried out using internal-combustion vehicles, but within a radius limited to 30 km for polystyrene (70% of the poufs’ weight), 50 km for textiles and advertising banners (25% of the poufs’ weight), and 1,000 km for hot-air balloon fabrics (3% of the poufs’ weight).
- Material processing: Materials are reused as-is, undergoing only minor physical transformations carried out by electric-powered machines: a polystyrene grinder and blowers, a laser cutter/digital cutting machine, and finally industrial sewing machines. They are powered by EDF’s low-carbon energy mix (approximately 50 g CO2/kWh, compared to 460 g/kWh in Germany or 750 g/kWh).
- Shipping packaging: It is made of cardboard or fully recyclable polyethylene bags
- Delivery to our customers' homes: This is done via non-express delivery using gasoline-powered vehicles on the road. This is likely the most significant impact of the three mentioned above.
Is there any risk that the polystyrene will end up in my home or in the environment?
We noticed that the bean bags available on the market either lacked inner liners or had liners that were very flimsy. We therefore wanted to avoid plastic pollution in natural environments at all costs by taking the following precautions: - using a lining under the hot-air balloon fabric - using fabric weighing at least 200 g/m² for the inner covers - using a tarp for the underside
